World TB Day marked in Keimoes and Lennertsville, Siyanda District
In Keimoes and Lennertsville, events were held to mark World TB Day. The events opened with prayer and scripture reading, followed by a spiritual message and hymns.
Information on the spread of TB, the importance of its early detection, the fact that it is curable, information about its prevalence in the community, the importance of knowing one’s HIV status, of having access to the correct information, of living a health life-style, and information related to making decisions around behaviour change were part of the event. A role play was done by the facilitators.
A person living with AIDS motivated people to get tested and those who are infected to live a positive and healthy lifestyle. The community members participated by asking a lot of questions.
The programme included:
– TB screening and HIV/AIDS testing
– Referrals to health facilities.
– Pap Smears in Lennertsville
