Sicelimpilo beadwork project, Port Shepstone, Diocese of Mariannhill
In January 2014, one of the carers Francisca Cele worked with Sr Pascalina to venture into beadwork. The two trained and imparted their skills and knowledge to other child care workers of Sicelimpilo Project: how to make Zulu traditional belts, skirts and necklaces, and also rosaries using beads. Today the project is able to receive orders amounting to R1000 a month. This beadwork is one of the income generating activities of the Sicelimpilo Project, the proceeds of which will enable Sicelimpilo project to work towards establishing another income generating project – the hiring out of kitchen equipment, tents, tables, chairs and table cloths for weddings and parties.
