Motupa ARV Clinic, Tzaneen

Kurisanani, the SACBC AIDS Office funded ART programme in Tzaneen conducts treatment services in Tzaneen town, and at Motupa clinic, the latter on behalf of the Department of Health.  For some time the Department has been providing the ARV drugs, with PEPFAR funding supporting the rest of the programme.

At the Motupa ART Clinic, which operates out of two parkhomes purchased by PEPFAR, patients are down referred from Van Velden Hospital. Patient numbers have  increased. Kurisanani had operated several other satellite centres.  These have now closed, and patients been referred to relevant DOH clinics.  The Motupa ARV clinic is able to refer pregnant women and patients in need of PMTCT services to the adjoining DOH clinic.

Patient data related to the ART patients has been transferred from the SACBC AIDS Office patient data system (PDS) on to the DOH Tier.net system.  For the time being data is being captured on both systems, but once the PEPFAR programme ends, all patient data will already be in place on the DOH Tier.net system.
