Taking Time Out to Get in Touch with the Person Inside

Child care workers from two OVC projects in the Archdiocese of Johannesburg, Sithandizingane (Tsakane) and Ahanang (Sebokeng) participated in a Restore Retreat led by Ellen O’Brian and her colleagues from the USA, and joined also by some of the SACBC AIDS Office staff.  There was an additional participant who joined the carers, one of the drivers, who made himself quite at home!

The retreat involved Tai Chi, Mudras (touching exercises to relieve stress), various meditation techniques, sharing in groups (who we are, what we do, why we do it, our joys, our challenges, and our hope for colleagues and beneficiaries of our work).  Particiaponts interviewed one another of the gifts they give to the world.  All happened in an atmosphere of respect and silence.  Some people, recently bereaved, could share their pain and receive consolation.  The day ended on a high note.
