
Families Matter! Graduations in Aliwal North
Families Matter! is a training programme targeting guardians of children entering puberty and helping them to be able to talk about sexuality issues with the children. It has been one of the main focus areas of the OVC project of the SACBC AIDS Office in 2016. It includes a component on HIV counselling and testing and guardians are encouraged to know their own HIV status through undergoing HIV testing. On the 4th August 2016 there were Families Matter! Programme Graduations for all 89 Participants who managed to finish the 6 sessions training in Mhlanga. Participants wore their Xhosa traditional outfits. The graduation started a few minutes after 13:00 and Fr. Themba Rolihashe opened with a scripture reading and gave a few words of motivation to the
participants. Ms Refiloe Mothabeng from the Aliwal Diocese gave the welcoming remarks, and certificates were given to the graduates. Refreshments were served
