Siyathokoza ART Clinic, Botshabelo, Archdiocese of Bloemfontein
Siyathokoza ART Clinic in Botshabelo , supported by the SACBC AIDS Office PEPFAR treatment grant is an example of collaboration in a public-private partnership. Patients have been on treatment since 2005. The project has good collaboration with the Department of Health , and the co-ordinator attends regular Department of Health meetings to strengthen the relationship.
Siyathokoza has been receiving Department of Health funded drugs for some time. Its laboratory services are provided by National Health Laboratory Services, and local clinics and the local hospital assist with TB testing and treatment. The Department of Health’s home based care programme provides some training and home based care kits, and the Siyathokoza reciprocates by assisting with patient tracing. The Department of Health is impressed by the quality of work of the data capturers and what is done overall.
Currently an amended memorandum of understanding is being negotiated with the Department of Health to make provision for the supply of opportunistic infection drugs and TB medication.
Siyathokoza also has an informal agreement with World Vision, and receives e-pap periodically from them. Siyathokoza supports the ARV treatment of children in neighbouring Thaba Nchu, an OVC project which is part of the SACBC AIDS Office PEPFAR programme.
There was recently a visit from the third secretary of the US Embassy who was most impressed by the facility.
