Siphofaneni, Our Lady of Sorrows, Manzini Diocese

The xx family has 3 members, [a father and 3 children, 1 girl, 2 boys]. The father is HIV positive and needs to visit the local clinic for his medication almost  every two weeks. He also needs some food packages because he cannot work [his feet are sore] and this illness is not getting any better. All his children are not attending school and he lost his wife to HIV in 2009.

We got to know about this family through a social worker who is based at the community. She informed us about their situation and when we visited them we found that indeed their situation is terrible.

The community was very cooperative during the whole exercise and the Umphakatsi [Chief’s place] offered a safe storeroom for the material.
