Child care workers learn behaviour change skills

The SACBC AIDS Office organised an Education for Life workshop for the KZN
AIDS project sites at St Philomena’s in Durban. A total of nine projects, and 23
participants, took part in this training, facilitated by Sr Victoria, Sr Busisiwe and
Ms Busisiwe. A total of 23 participants benefited from this workshop. The main
objectives of the workshop were to explore different challenges that young people
experience, how to deal with those difficult situations and how to make well
informed choices in life. The facilitation was in Zulu. This made every participant to
be at ease and to participate fully. There were a lot of activities done that focused
on social problems experienced by the young people and also how to deal with
those circumstances. The workshop was very crucial because it will enable the care
workers to apply what they have learnt to their daily activities with children and to
be creative in supporting children undergoing difficult situations.
