Bakhita Village at St Brendan’s School, Dwars River, Diocese of Tzaneen
Twenty seven vulnerable primary school girls from local villages are provided with residential care during term time at Bakhita village next door to St Brendan’s School in Dwars River, Diocese of Tzaneen. They attend a couple of local primary schools. On completion of their primary school education some of them are awarded bursaries to attended St Brendan’s School. Their time at Bakhita also helps them better cope with situations which have made them vulnerable at home.
The Bakhita project also has an outreach into the neighbouring local villages and many more children are assisted in a project funded through the SACBC AIDS Office Global Fund Programme.
The recent blanket and tracksuit project benefited children across the Bakhita programme. And currently preparations are being made to support renovations to various houses in the outreach project.
